Unusual Problem
I have been riding my F2 for about 2 or 3 weeks now. When first got it, the cyclinders were flooded so I changed the plug. Fixed that problem. Here is a the current problem I am having, I let it warm up for a good 10 minutes (while I am getting ready for work), I go only so far and it cuts out, I let it sit for a minute and it starts right up. I bought this bike from a guy in MI and I live in Alamogordo, NM where the elevation is a lot higher. I think it is starving for air. Anyone else have an idea? I am going to put a Stage 1 jet kit in anyways. Any ideas would help.
I would recommend getting the carburetors cleaned out well, synch them(should be done anyways) and failing that, THEN jet them.
first of all though, how does your air filter look? fuel tank? any dirt or crap in the tank that could get into the carbs may cause problems, as will a dirty air filter. check the simple stuff first.

The air filter is alright. I am going to replace it in the spring. I am running about a 1/2 bottle of Sea Foam (carb cleaner) through the tank right now. I really think that it is just starving for air.
Aint the jetting. Jetting might make it run crappy, but not run for awhile then not. I'd say you have a fuel flow problem. Got good flow from the petcock? Sounds like maybe a vacumn leak or something where when the bike sits enough fuel ends back up in the carbs for it to run, then theres not a enough flow to keep running and it dies. My guess.
The fuel flow is fine. It is wierd because I let warm up for a good 10 - 15 minutes. I get down the road a little bit and it spits a little and then dies. I let it sit for 2 - 5 minutes and it starts right up. [>:]
That's typical behavior for fuel starvation.
That means:
- check you're not out of fuel (don't laugh)
- check to see if turning it to prime/reserve changes it
- pinched fuel line
- plugged fuel filter
- stuck float
You know - I didn't realize how extreme the elevation change was.
If it idles and won't run right above idle, plus the elevation change, then maybe you're right on the jetting.
You can relatively easily check that by pulling a sparkplug and seeing if it's blackened...
