Before anyone starts preaching iam not trying to play nicky haden on the interstate.This is about performance.Now we all know our speedos are not perfectly accurate some less than others.
iam the proud owner of a stock 94 f2.now ive heard a stock bike makes around 88hp.Ive looked around at some posted numbers and they differ big time 130,145,165etc.mine personally is around 130.what i want to know is the true showroom floor top end on this classic.One thing puzzles me though i subscribe to a major sportbike magazine back in march they did a story on the 6 generations of the cbr 600 starting from the 87 hurricane.What confuses me is the performance numbers between the 87 and the 07.

Now i know there are some HUGE differences here but 13mph increase over 10 years? WTF?

 

I think that top speed on the '07 is incorrect.My '03 RR's top trap speed was 162 mph.The F3 is around 155,so my guess is the F2 is probably 152,+/- 2 mph.

A strong stock F2 motor with pipe/carb adjust makes about 88hp.

 

yeah those numbers didnt sound right to me either.

 

Performance numbers are SO subjective. Different day's different rider, it's all relative. You could take the same bike two days later and be up or down 5mph depending on weather.

That is what they got on THOSE days with those riders under given circumstances. 13mph might not seem like much but as speed increases the power required to go faster increases exponentially to overcome air resistance.

Look at the ZX-11 WAY back in the day at 177mph back in 92'. Now some bikes wont roll the governed 186mph. That's less than 10mph and HP has increased by 30+hp as well.

 

my bike is naked with no aerodynamics and has a 5up in the rear so me topping out at 120-125 probably isn't irrelevant

 

don't know actual but mine has a few performance mods and mine showed one time 156 and had about 1200 rpm left never went that fast again

i have been clocked at 153 and still accelerating on my f2 if that helps any and its cammed custom can and stage 1 jets

 

wow that thread is sad man.but i mean its notlike iam haulin on the street.i guilty of it every now and then but still man.......damn.i guess people just ride the way they wanna ride and aint nothing you can do about it.i mean hell a dog could run out in front of you doing 45 and wipe you out.have fun but be safe people.

 

before i regeared my f2 it was bone stock, i saw 145 and backed off scared as hell. since the regear (1 down in front) top is 140 at redline 6th gear. not too proud of this, but only give it on 1 long secluded stretch of intersate.
