170. to go to a 180 you need a 97-98 F3 rim its 5.5". thats what i just did.

do a search there are a TON of the exact same questions.

so is it definite that a 180 won't fit on a f2 rear rim. becuase i bought my f2 and just had a 160 put on cuz my 180 went flat. does that mean i have an f3 rim?

Lots of misinformation in the post.

ORIGINAL: bindelsf2

170.
The F2 rim is 4.5 inches wide. The widest you can put on there is a 160. You can force a 170 on there but you'll change the profile of the tire from its intended design and the bike will turn like ****.

to go to a 180 you need a 97-98 F3 rim its 5.5".
Incorrect. All F3 rims come with a 5.0 inch rim. The widest you can put on there is a 170. You can force a 180 on it but, AGAIN, it'll change the profile of the tire from its intended design and the bike will turn like ****.

Stick to the 160. You won't gain anything with a wider tire unless you are at an extreme lean angle.

to answer your question a 170 is the widest you can go on a f2 rim.(good idea or not).
thier are 2 people that have a 180 onthier F2 rimsthough(but its not a good idea or safe). https://cbrforum.com/m_170035/tm.htm.
the bike shop that i go to wont even put a 180 on a F2 rim.. says something about the dangers of doing it.

the f3 rim is 5.0" like said above (sorry i was half asleep when i was posting) it will bolt right on a F2 and the widest you can go on there is a 180. (like i did) i did mine for the strip so when i let a little air out i have a bigger contact patch. but if i was into curvies the 160 would bemy baby!

So you can swap front and rear rims on f2's and f3's?

I may do that soon so I can try riding my 95 F3. Once I get the clutch cable it should be good to go. Needs tires badly tho.

no it wont work for the front. Front rim is the same size, but the 91-94's had the thing for the speed-o in the hub.. the 95+ the speedo is ran from the engine, electronic i believe...

but the rear will.

i have my old f2 rear rim witha tire on it???

I just wondered if I could swap them because my F2 has great tires on it. But my project F3 has horrible tires on it. Factory tires with 5100miles. Very worn and very dry rotted. Soon as my clutch cable comes in my bike bandit I should be able to ride the f3 some.

180's fit and work fine on an F2... You all may have your opinions about safety and fit but trust me, I have been racing my 91' F2 for 14 years with a 180 in the rear. I have 1000’s of miles and laps on 180’s. No warp, slip, bead break, reduction in lean angle... nothing. The only problem I have ever had is that in a full lean I have rubbed tire on my back heal, but I would assume I was in wrong position pushing to hard. Flam all you want but unless you have put 180's on your F2 and ran them your words are just opinions and not fact.
