Default throttle handle sticks

i just got my bike and one thing i noticed is that the throttle sticks. the handle wont snap back when i let go, so i have to move it back myself. is there an easy fix for this or will i need to buy a new handle ( if so, where is a good place to get one? )

welcome to the forum filthy... pics of your new ride?

your throttle sticking could be a lot of things. but it is dangerous...

-the grip could be catching on the bar-end weight or the break perch.
-the throttle cables could be super dirty, preventing carb/throttle spring from pulling.
-could be carb/throttle spring is too old and not pulling hard enough

Check that the grip is moving freely first. then check throttle cables for ease of movement.

or your clip-on could be bent like mine, since both my bikes became mine after an explosive flip down a highway. The throttle tube is stiff, and will want to be straight even if the clip-on is bent, so it will bind and not return properly.

You also might want to take off the throttle tube and check the clip-on's surface beneath it. My clip-on had rusted a bit under the grip and prevented it from moving freely. Some light sanding took care of that.

I just unscrewed both nuts right below the throttle tube and shot a little WD40 down and twisted the throttle work it in...snaps back like new now. for now atleast lol.

Check the adjustable screws on the wires coming out of the housing. They might be too tight.

First remove the bar end and see if that solves the problem,if that doesnt work, check throttle tube and cables and check as stated above.

My throttle sticks and Im now used to riding with it. Sometimes when Im riding on the motorway or in slow moving traffic I go no handed (I always keep a safe distance). Its cruise control essentially.

That is both kinda awesome and incredibly sketchy at the same time.
