Default Tell me what you think....93 f2

ok, I'm looking to buy my first motorcycle. I'm taking the MSF course in a month.

I found a 93 CBR f2 for sale and want opinions on the price and the bike etc..

This is the guy's ad: (He's asking $2,500)

1993 Honda CBR 600f2, 15.3k miles with all records including original invoice!! -- see pics

Stored indoors and stored correctly with Sta-bil, disconnected battery, full tank of fuel, etc...

Extras included on the bike:
Fox Twin Clicker Racing Shock ($465.28)
Honda Factory Pro Shifter Kit ($69.95)
Progressive High Performance Fork Springs ($55.99)
Ontario Moto Tech Exhaust Canister ($195)
Goodridge Kevlar Brake Lines ($149.90)
Two Brothers Racing Brake Line Junction w/ Top Bleeder ($25.95)
Metzeler MEZ1 Street Compound Tires Front/Rear at 13,000 miles
Dow Guardian Sportbike Cover ($59.95)

Does this seems like a good deal? should what should I offer him?

Since I dont know much about F2's or motorcycles in general, what should I check before purchasing the bike?

I paid $2600 for a 94 F2 with 6k miles and full Yosh exhaust. It needed new fork seals, but that was it. I think I got a pretty good deal based on other ads I had seen and bikes I'd looked at. Totally agree with 02_GSXR_HYBRID. I would definitely ask to have it taken to a shop for a once over. It might cost you +/- $60, but could save a lot more than that.

You should buy that bike. I paid 2500 for my 92 and that one looks to be in great condition, low mileage, original paint, plus all the extras. Ask if the bike has been layed down.

It's probably worth that much, it looks like it is in good condition... does it need ANYTHING soon? tires chain, grips, anything? look for anything wrong and talk the price down, you should be able to get that for a few hundred less... HOWEVER it is prime riding season, so he might be firm, I would still see if he could knock a few bucks.. tell him you can spend $2200 and you need the rest for tax, tags and title. Never hurts to ask... Take the safety course and ride safe!! good luck!!

For what it's worth to you, I paid $5,449 for this exact color scheme, brand new in Sept. '92. I put a little over 12,000 miles on my bike and sold it for $4,800, that was 10 years ago. I would buy this thing in a minute, for that price, with that mileage, but I would make sure it is everything your guy is hyping it up to be...........I wish I still had mine, that was an awesome bike.....you better buy it quick, I'm starting to have some thoughts............Good luck with it if you do go ahead with it

So I bought the bike!

I have all documentation on it since new and its great (2 3 ring binders), only 2 things wrong with it...

1) crack in the "cowl" (around headlight)

2) sticky throttle (revved it and it stayed at what I revved it to a couple of times

he did throw in a SHOEI RF800 Helmet and a Jacket that is like new that was originially $479, he has the receipts for everything.
well I hope its not to much power for me, but from what i've been told it should be.

Does anyone know how to fix the problem of the "sticky" throttle?!?!

Bike looked great, and sounded even better....

I'm picking it up sometime next week.

that's awesome!

I have a sticky throttle too.... maybe you need to lube the throttle wire?

Or get a new throttle spring?

I also have a crack in my fairing by the light!
