Default Tank Range on the F2's

So.. this is kindof a general question for all of you F2 owners who have had their bikes longer then I have...

What are you guys getting for total distance per tank? Im going to 250km (150-160miles) per fill, Im not on reserve yet but I don't have the ***** to run it to empty because last time I ran out, the reserve only lasted about 1km before I was empty again (certainly not enough to get to a gas station)

Im not cracking on the throttle, I shift around 5000 usually and put along the highway around 100km (60mph ish) and put mostly highway mileage on the bike. I just wanna know what you folks are getting out of your gas tanks.

So, thanks for the input in advance!

I keep track of my mileage religiously, and I get over 50 mpg consistently. I think the F2 tank holds 4.2 gallons of fuel. I go between 150 and 180 miles before I fill up, but at times have gone as far as 200 miles before filling the tank. Reserve should get you a minimum of 20 miles or so. I use excel to monitor my fuel consumption month to month so I know when it is time to adjust my valves but it also allows me to know roughly how far I can go before I need to top off again.

I ride my F2 to work everyday, and I cruise anywhere from 45 mph to 75 or 80 mph. Faster I go, the better my mileage gets. For me, the sweetspot is 75mph. At that speed I can hit 60 mpg.

Ok, coming home tonight at 150 miles I had to switch to reserve. The tank holds 4.23 gallons and the reserve capacity is .79 gallons, so figure 3/4 of a gallon. So I am hitting reserve at roughly 3 to 3.5 gallons used out of the 4.2 gallon tank capacity. I figure I can go at least 30 miles on my reserve safely. I was going fast the last couple of days and hitting some strong head winds, so I know this tank won't net
me much more than 45 or so miles per gallon.

Minimum 20 miles huh? thats like 30 km.. I wonder why my tank just ran out like that.. maybe it had already been running on reserve (I had just bought the bike that day)

Well, thats good to know that I SHOULD be able to let it run into reserve and be able to get to a gas station. I'll try it out sometime.

When your valves need adjustment does your mileage decrease drastically?

Wow you guys get way better mileage than me... I think my carbs need tuning or cleaning.

I get at the most 110 - 120 miles/tank.

That what I get riding normaly . Most of the time I get about 90mpg giving it a bit of stick . But I do live next to one of the classic fast biking roads in the UK . Its to heavily Policed these days so we go up early evening for a few laps . The road is just like the TT course after we have finished with rubber at the turn in points and up to the Apex and all our ***** strips gone to the edge of the tyre if you know what i mean

The best i've gotten outa the bike is 170 miles before I had to switch to reserve. That was riding for the afternoon with afew other guys on Harleys, and, just enjoying the scenery riding. Pretty light on the throttle with the occasional blip of course

And, about your bike only going 1KM and dying after switching, you probably were already on reserve.

I really just need to get a small gas canister, strap it to the back of the bike and just go until the bike runs 100% out of gas to see what she can do at my normal cruising speeds.

Maybe a project for bordem curing next week?
