Taking bike to shop
I'm taking my bike into a shop tomorrow and I wanted to know if I should tell them to look at anything in particular.
I just bought it a couple of weeks ago. I rode it sunday and when I went to put it up, it ran a little rough. Sounded like the bike was weezing. (If that makes sense.) But it went away when I hit the throttle. I plan on getting a tune-up and having him check the chain cam tensioner. Any other suggestions??? |
RE: Taking bike to shop
Sounds like the carbs are dirty.

RE: Taking bike to shop
Any other symptoms?

RE: Taking bike to shop
Just runs rough a little. But when I was on it, acceleration and the sound was great.

RE: Taking bike to shop
Just came back from the shop and I got bad news!![:@][:@][:@][:@]
I need a new engine. There is a thrown rod or piston of some sort. Bottom line the engine would have to be completely taken apart. The piece that had the problem goes around the crank shaft. Bear with me because I am a newbie here. So, all my terminology might not be correct. Can anyone help me find a new engine. I got a 94 F2??? The guy at the shop said I might be able to get a F4i fuel injected engine is I got all the hoses and injectors. He said it would cost a pretty penny! |
RE: Taking bike to shop
Get a second opinion or make a video with sound and post it here. That sounds a little far fetched. Did he pull the oil pan off to inspect the lower half of the motor?
|
RE: Taking bike to shop
He didn't take the oil pan off. As soon as I started the bke up, the noise started. It wasn't happening until after I got to the shop and started my bike back up. I'm going to see if I can make a audio clip with my cell.

RE: Taking bike to shop
sounds like a cct to me.. search for the link on here for the "how to " on converting you stock cct to a manual cct.. very cheap and it is a common issue. Good luck

RE: Taking bike to shop
Or if you want the OEM auto tensioner with gasket PM me (BRAND NEW and very easy to put on).
|
RE: Taking bike to shop
That is absolutely the cam chain tensioner. No doubt about it!! I had that too. i think that the shop wants to rip you off man omg i hate that.

RE: Taking bike to shop
You guys don't know how much you made my morning!!!!:):)
Please, school me. So should I go with BlkF2, Philo, or cloudbreakmd? I want to go with the easiest solution. Something that I can do without taking it back to that shop. Thank you guys, in advance, for all your help. |
RE: Taking bike to shop
Awful nice of the shop to try and rip you off. I cant beleive that!

RE: Taking bike to shop
I wou ld say buy yourself a new cam chain tensioner and install it urself. If the noise is'nt gone, changing the cam chain itself would be a solution i guess. But first try to replace the tensioner (i've heard/read that there are some aftermarket chain tensioners wich are changeable with the hand instead of automatically). I think there will be some how to's related to changing a cct.
U can also try another shop. Maybe they will tell u the truth, and will not be that commercial that they wanna rip u of or someting like that! I wish u luck my fellow F2 owner with a common CCT problem :D |
RE: Taking bike to shop
Ah i didn't read what Blkf2 said before i replied. But i think that's a good idea. Just replace the stock for a manual one instead. Then the problem will not be back that soon i guess.
