yeah its the tach not the speedo. hurricane what is the CDI

the CDI takes a signal from your flywheel and the ignition pickup, and uses that to tell the coils when to fire. its basically your ignition box on the bike.

ill check the CDI when i get home (im on vacation) how much would 1 of them run me?

Take the three bolts out that holds down the gauges and check the connections. About once a year I loose my tach and have to re-connect the connector. It's very simple and takes under 5 min.

i already took off the cluster and checked all the plugsbutcouldnt find anything wrong.

NEW 500 USED ABOUT A 100 YOU CAN FIND ON EBAY REAL CHEAP SOMETIME I JUST REPLACED MINE FOR 85 OF EBAY

Yeah, you can also hook a meter that measures RPMs to the CDI to see if it's putting out the signal.

WOOwhat do u meanbya meter that measures the rpms? and how would i hook it the theCDI

I used the Actron CP7677 Automotive TroubleShooter (link)

I think I mistakenly said the CDI when I meant the ICM (under the seat). You ground the common to the frame and stick the other into the Yellow/Green lead coming out the ICM.
