Default Suggestions For Tires

I need new tires for my bike. I just bought it and I am looking for tires that are somewhat long lasting, aren't super sticky(because I don't plan on doing any track days) and are good in rain and wet conditions. I'm a new rider and so I want to make sure I invest in some good tires.

These are the currents size tires. Are these the size that are supposed to be on the F-2?
Front 120-60 R17
Back 160 60 R17

thats the stock size for the back, i run 180/55/17 on mine. i just finished a set of dunlops, and now i have a michelin pilot up front and a shinko 005 radial out back. i went with the shinko out back because i wore the dunlop out in less than 5k miles and the shinko was only 100 bucks. as for the michelin i got it for 75 with 500 miles. i would like to cram a 190/50/17 out back next time, anyone know if it will fit? looks like it will.

My favorite tires so far have been Pirelli Diablos. They wear nice and stick well.

Those are the correct tire sizes for an F2. If you increase the width of your tires they will fit (I think up to 180/60 on the rear), but it will screw up your cornering. If you ride slow, you may not notice it though.

Yes, in most cases that is true. Though the last set of Diablos I had on my bike, I had around 5,000 miles on them and was actually able to sell them to someone else because they still had plenty of wear left. They seem to be the cheapest tire out of the top brands, plus last the longest, and stick just as well.

Brian, if you don't ride really fast, you can always just buy sport touring tires. I have used Avon sport touring tires in the past and they were fine too. If you are a casual rider then I would just go with what suits your pocket. All tires will stick and move water and stay attached to your bike just the same as another at normal speeds.

Thank you for the responses. So what specific type of Diablo's? Supersport, Stradas or something different?

Yeah I think strada is Pirellis line of sport touring tire. But look around. As I said, you may want to save yourself some money and get an off brand, they will work just as well. Just may not stick and feel like a race tire when taking a corner at 100mph.

I got the shinko advance tires, standard size for front and back. They are fine i think, held ok on, not soaked roads, but slightly wet, and held up to reasonably high speeds. They seem to grip well.

any one have Avon Viper Sports..?

I've been eyeing those tires for awhile and am curious if anyone here rocks them... reviews seem to be pretty positive all around.
