did you happen to take out the clutch basket by chance? I had the excat same problem with mine when i donemine, i took the basket and all out to check everything out. After serverl days and taking the clutchs out several times, i finally gave up and took it to the dealership. Come to find out the only problem on mine was the basket wasnt excatly lined up with the oil pump, and that was it. So if you took out the basket make sure you have the holes in the back of it lined up with the notches on the oil pump

zvillephatboygt - It is lined up and I checked that because I saw your previous post.

cowboy from hell - There is no freeplayin theclutch lever, but yeah I saw that post before and it is for an f4i and the f2 basket doesnt look the same. When checking the clutch lifter what should I be looking for?

elmer - I will get pics up sunday and thats the next chance I will have to work on it cause of work.
Thanks guys for your help.

No prob man, its getting nice out, we gotta get this bike on the road!

Yes, that is a picture of an F4i clutch basket, but its more of a principle thing. My F2 clutch basket looks very similar if not nearly identical to that in the picture. I'll have pictures of my whole shift kit installation up this weekend so there should be a good pic of the clutch and whatnot in there because I had to take the clutch out/apart to put in the kit.

Good luck man!

If you're still having trouble, I just posted up my howto on a shift kit install, there might be some pics there that help you out.

idk if this is it or not, but you said multiple times that there is no free play in the clutch lever?

there is supposed to be some free play, or else it doesnt catch, cause its always pulled in.
look at your service manual.

Thanks everyone for your help I'm going to take the clutch apart now and take pics of everything and possibly put it back together and try it again.

No need for pics it's working. I took it apart and reinstalled everything and made sure that my clutch lever had play in it, and I put it in first let out the clutch and it moved, so I grabbed my helmet and gloves went for a ride and came back. Quick question, what's the break in period for the clutch cause I do not want to ruin these fibers.

Again thanks for everyones help, and I'm placing the verdict on an improperly adjusted clutch cable, and I'm glad that I did not take it to the shop.
