I tried the ebay $50 dollar dampers on my F3. Don't waste your time. They are not smooth along the entire travel. Good dampers cost more, but are worth it. I just pretend its a $50 peice of aluminum art and hang it on the shop wall as a reminder.

My F2 has had a mToby damper since '93 and is still working fine. Price has gone up a bit, but....

The one on my bike came with a box of parts I bought back in 95. I dont know or remember what brand it is but it mounts up under the guages and doesnt allow full stop to stop steering. But it works great. I bought another one from "the bay" that mounts to the fairing mount where your left knee goes, would like to try it some time. Also the 91 I recently bought has (i think) a toby damper that mount under the guages.

I think I'll go for that 200 dollar job. The ebay stuff worries me, especially after I read on another forum about a guy who's damper froze up. His was not China made but still....

hopefully I won't feel the need to buy it immediately, It is Winter after all, and even my wife keeps telling me to get a new bike...I just can't do it because this one runs fine. should be more comfortable with these upgrades though. Thanks for the input

Where did you get your steering damper from?
