started up for the first time in months
Well, it was a nice day out, so i decided to pull the bike out of storage and start her up. So when i started it up (which involved about2 minutes of cranking it over with full choke) it idled kind of rough, it was approx 45 degrees out. so turned choke off let it warm up a little bit. and jumped on, and idle revved it. the throttle response was terrible. so i jumped on and went for a mild ride around the block. at that point it would rev up to about 6-7k no problem but it had little bad spots in the power band where it felt like the power went out then kicked back on. so i went for one more ride around the block , and decided to peg it at wot, sputtered a a sec in first then took off to approx 5-6k then shuttered for a split second and took off like a bat out of hell(normal) to redline. i only went wot in first gear. after that it seemed to be riding ok, except it still shuttered and felt almost like it wasnt getting fuel past 5-6k rpm at idle rev.
so upon thinking about the situation. i figured maybe it was a problem with the fuel system. petcock was in the "on" position so it wasnt that. perhaps a clogged petcock, or carbs need a cleaning, or perhaps i just need to run some seafoam through the gas tank?
anyone have any other suggestions or questions about the conditions? if so let me know ill describe it as thoroughly as possible. thanks in advance

Feels good getting that thing outside doesn't it? My suggestion is try to get it started once a week if possible...and let it get up to a warm temp....This will ensure a semi- charged battery and keep the fuel from getting stale.
Good Luck!

I'd start with a fresh tank of gas. I'm guessing that'll make a much bigger difference than one might think. You are on the right track though. Run some seafoam through it if you feel so compelled. it's possible/probable that the gas in the carbs started to varnish up a bit and cause problems. A couple more weeks when all the snow here in Wisconsin melts and I try to get my bike out again I'm sure I'll have the same issues. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
