Default Sputtering problems when giving alot of gas

Well just yesterday i had turned on the cbr for the first time since i bought it now it hasnt been ran in quite some months so that could be a problem but when i hammered the accelerater it just died on me i was thinking maybe a carb problem or something in that nature then when i would turn the choke high it would just die on me.any suggestions mates

I'd start with the carbs too.

My other question would be do you think its cause it sat for quite some time i mean it was months to maybe a year that it hadnt been started

I would think so-- and maybe the sparkplugs could be bad?

Was there old gas left in the tank?

If its too much of a PITA to drain the fuel then run it all the way till its almost done and put in some fresh fuel.

Should clear things up after a few (or a few hundred miles), if not, maybe your fuel filter?
