I have been riding my CBR 600 f2 for 3 months total now (first bike).
I have that 2 brothers racing kit installed (came with the bike) so the bike sounds loud to me.
I don't know what the recommended rpm for shifting from gear to gear is. I usually shift at 6K rpm because the bike sounds really loud around that rpm.
because of the sound the bike makes I guess it makes car drivers think I am trying to race with them because they usually drive 15-20 miles over the normal driving limits (I'm just trying to get to work and save on gas not race every car).
My question is does anyone know the recommended shifting pattern I should be using for this bike without having to worry about breaking anything. I ride 50 miles one way to work and I don't want to break anything in between.....long way to walk.

I ride pretty mellow-- at least I think so...
1st gear I shift at about 4,000 rpm
Most gears I shift around 5,000 rpm but no higher.
If I am on the freeway and there's lots of traffic and I may need to accelerate fast, I keep it at 5,000 almost at 6,000

I guess you can take any gear to redline if you need to...just don't go in the red zone.
Just in case, if I go maximum power in every gear...
1st gear I only go up to about 10,000 rpm
2nd...same
3rd...same
etc...
Just so I don't accidentally go into the red zone on the tach.

I also had a question about the two brother racing kit. Does having that kit installed negatively affect acceleration. Maybe its just the fact that I'm being fooled by the sound the bike is making vs the speed in which I'm accelerating. I mean the bike seem rather loud when I'm in 1st gear going only about 15mph and about 3k rpm. Does that seem about right?

My roommate has a f3 which is, for the most part, the same bike. He has a full 2bro's exhaust and his was about twice as loud as my yoshi slipon was. On my 900rr I have a d+d and really haven't got to hear it scream yet. I know around 7k in 6th gear holding it there it gives a nice loud prrrrrr (just thought I say that)
Shift where you want but same as a car in theory....shift at redline area all the time is working the engine more. Play with it and see where you can shift and still maintain appropriate speeds.
Exhaust will not negativly effect the power of the bike. Regardless if slip-on or full-exhaust it is going to ADD power. ... I forget which way it goes but one usually adds more from stop and the other helps more in top-end. This could be total bs but I think I read it once in a magazine or something.
