Drilling is a no-brainer if they're plastic. Fiberglass can be pretty sketchy.

Sorry, I guess what I really want to know is; what is the cam chain and what does it do? Every once and a while my bike will want to shift to neutral from 1 to 2. It could easily just be in my head and I am not shifting hard enough, or is this possibly from the CCT? I thought I read somewhere the CCT had to do with oil pressure equalizing or something?

I haven't the slightest clue what the cam chain does but I read how to replace it and it sounds pretty simple. Honestly, if I just have to deal with a little bit of rattle, I have no problem with that at all. If changing my CCT would show improvements in performance, then I might change it.

That bike looks awesome, Lino. I really like the seat. What would you do with the seat if you repainted though? And from the pictures, it looks orange. Is it red or orange? Congrats on the bike though! Keep it the way it is for a little while, it looks good enough.

actually im f***d. the guy decided he doesnt want to sell it.
all that research, finding parts, asking questions... for f****g nothing! as you can tell im not very happy.

its red. haha red paint and a red and white seat. i know it looks clean, but im not a red and white kinda guy. black and red, in my book, cant be beat. haha but i was planning on getting a new corbin seat.

but ive found a 96 katana 600 for about a grand. i think ima go with that. its so cheap cuz it was recently dropped and the mirror and windscreen broke. which are easy fixes. so unless i find another CBR in the mean time... i think ima go with the kat. i feel traitorous to this site, but i bikes a bike right? at least ill be riding. haha

No j/k. That's a really sad tradeoff. There's a reason kanatuna's are so cheap.

The chain causes all the valves to open and close in time with each other, and at a synchronous speed. The cam chain tensioner just holds the chain tight.

Default for the love of GOD

im sooo sorry about that bike... please , consider not going with the katana.. air cooled fart bike, i think i would rather walk. ive seen all kinds of f2 and f3 for 2000 to 3000$$$$, wait it out for a honda, i absolutly promise you wont regret it , but a katana delivers disappointment. dont let that that grand burn a hole in your pocket, keep lookin...peace

Seriously. I'm selling my modded-the-****-out F3 with only 11k miles for $3500, if you feel like coming to get it.

Default said it early in thread

use a tape measure. but dont worry about lockin up that katana it will be fine without one, you might even be able to just leave the key in it.
