Quick Oil Change Question...

I have heard similar claims, as well as claim that you should not use blends...it usually involves some BS about the molecular structure of the oil not being compatible. I don't buy it becaus oil does not lubricate an engine at the molecular level. Even if it lubricated with synthetic once then regular what's the difference.
I can tell you that I use Mobil1 4T and here is why:

You don't ever want to mix oil types or weights. It won't blow up the motor if you switch types, but I wouldn't do it every time. Honda makes all 3 types: conventional, semi-synthetic, and fully synthetic. Find one you like and stick with it.]
I say it might be bad to switch back and forth because of the clutch, but I'm no expert.

Thatsall non-sense. Some of the "myths" around synthetics do have roots in reallity.....but they date back 35-40 years when synthetics were new and DID cause issues....thats all ancient history now.
One"myth"that is true, is just misunderstood. Some engines afterswitching to synthetic start to leak (we are talking small block chevy's...not your CBR). The detergents in the premium oils will clean the inside of the engine, all too well - sometimes thesludge and varnish build up are creating a seal on the inside of the engine...after a good cleaning, these joints will start to leak....again, not likely to happen on your CBR.
Mobil is good, Rotella T synthetic is good too....I've used both a lot over the years.
There are LOTS of good oils.....its like a recipie for cookies...they all make a good cookie...they just take a differentrecipie.
No oil from the kwickie mart and nothing with "energy conserving" in the API rating circle.

The reason "they" say don't mix them, is that the carbonbonds in a man made fully synthetic are exactly the same length (improved viscosity), were as in a mineral oil, it's natural, and the carbon bonds vary in length. You can mix them it just isn't as good as using fully synthetic alone. Synthetic works better when cold as well. Just what i've read...
