Default problems shifting

My 94 F2 has started having some problems shifting, especially going from 2nd to 3rd,it won't go at times..but i also have problems shifting at high RPMs if i get above 7 or 8000 rpms it won't go into a higher gear(which is pretty embarrising at times) could it be the shift drum or maybe the shift forks? is there any way to tell for sure before i take it to the shop...thanks in advance

I would say that a shift fork is bent, I guess it happens a lot to older bikes. I dont know how to tell for sure though.

+1 for bent shift fork. I've never had the problem but I've seen it posted here...from what I remember it's the second fork.
