Is there anyway to get closer to the ground without dogbones. Don't wanna thread jack but there are disadvantages to lowering a bike right? Only reason I ask is because I'm looking at getting a CBR for my first bike, possibly, and I only have a 29" inseam. I know alot of people only touch with one foot but I'm just worried that if I have to move it say up an incline in reverse that I won't have the leverage to do it.

no not without the dogbone... if your not planning on being out there dragging a knee you will be fine lowering it 1 1/2". i didnt notice a change when i lowered mine as far as handling..but like i said i am not out there hitting curves hard..but you can aways lower it and if you dont like it then reverse it...

What about shaving the seat? How much lower can that get you, realistically?

There's not much padding to eliminate...not enough to make a difference anyway...If you search enough, you can find a dogbone for a decent price and it's really easy to install...This is the best way to get your feet flatter on the ground.
