Please help lowering links.
I have a question. I am looking to lower my bike so a friend can learn to ride on it. Question is most links are good from f2 through f4i but then i find links for f4 and f4i that look different. are they still interchangable?

RE: Please help lowering links.
Lowering it requires a link/dogbone that is longer than stock. This will extend the reach between the damper and swingarm thus lowering the frame/bike. Easiest and cheapest way to lower the front is to loosen the triple calmps and let the tubes slide down on them.
As for the kickstand, it WILL need to be shortened...or, in my case, I gave the arm more travel. This will allow the arm to move even past the 45* angle to maybe say closer to 60*. To do this, remove stand from bike then grind down part of the metal that "stops" the arm travel...you see where it is once you get a good look at it. Then reinstall.
Take a look at the pic I posted and you see how much more the arm travels forward, thus giving the bike more lean so it wont tip over. The RED line is the stock arm angle vs. modded. This allows you to still have a stand pad instead of a "spike" as if you just cut off the end of it.

plus with 3 inches you are asking for trouble without doing it right. the rear tire WILL hit the subframe and the front fender will hit the radiator and your fork seals will be shot quick... Trust me i did it and went to 1 1/2" untill i had a strut for the rear made. i have a picture of my trashed front fender and my undertail which i just got done re-glassing. oh and my headers rubbed in and out of driveways..[:@]
look in my photogallery at the top right pic without the tail on that was lowered 3". my avatar pic is 1 1/2"

awesome! great info guys much appreciated! i am begining to think since i have to replace my fork seals this weekend i will lower the front end just an inch or two and see how that works. I would rather not buy the link if its not going to be low enough without causing issues anyway. Thanks again!
