Painting My 93 F2 P51-style
This past December I was contemplating fixing my fairings and doing some custom paintwork on my bike. After consulting with a friend of mine I decided to go through with it. The original paint wasn't horrible but the previous owner had dropped it a few times and there were some scratches and cracks in the fairings. Using Plastic-Weld epoxy I filled in any gouges and prepped for paint. I also purchased some new mirrors, a Clear Alternatives integrated taillight and clear front marker lights.
The bike before
Fairings off
Fairings painted base black
After taping off the panel lines and spraying with silver
Shading in the panel lines
Painting on the rivets and weathering
Adding the P51 Stars & Bars
Tail number
Kills
Almost finished
Today we will finish the weathering, shading the rivets, clearing everything, and installing the cut down passenger footrests. Hopefully it will be on the road by Tuesday!

Here comes my passionate side....
How the **** could you destroy that beautiful relic?!
Your original paint was nearly mint... You should have bought race fairings to bastardize with that ugly crap.
Did you seriously put HARLEY DAVIDSON and SUZUKI logo's side by side on a ****ing HONDA?!
Nice work on what you were going for, but jesus... that belongs on something less beautiful.

Hershey and G32bturbo: I understand your concern about ruining a good bike but the stock paint was far from perfect. The picture hid a lot of the flaws and there were cracks on the tail fairings, the clear was flaking off the tank, and some nice heavy scratches on the sides of the upper and lower front fairings. I had to use touch-up throughout to hide all the deep gouges from the previous owner dropping it.
To everyone else: Thanks for the compliments!
I added the word "KILLS" just above the Harley and Suzuki logos for those who wouldnt understand. I will upload more pics when I put it back together tomorrow.
