well said mang!

some bikes and cars that were designed to run 87 may eventually need to run higher octane to prevent predet. this is due to things like carbon build up, which can make the engine run hotter , hence, you'll need gas that's less prone to predet...so higher octane.

high compression ratio itself doesn't justify higher octane though, things like timing also play a role.

Yesterday i put Racing fuel 110 octane in my bike and is accelerates soooo much faster and drives really smooth. There is a noticeable differance

SOTP doesn't count...110 will do nothing for you unless you're tuned for it...

slap that bike on a dyno and then do a before and after and you'll see that it's no real increase.

yeah you can see increases if you use race gas and get it tuned for it. but i don't think you're going to need that much power. you'll probably be faster learning how to ride better than getting extra hp from the tuning.

I have a 94 cbr 600 f2 and i will not put 87 in.. for a simple reason Better gas mileage...... and my step dad is a dyno tech so i wanted to see the difference in accelration and good specs from 87-94 octane i only use 94 perfromace is better ill try finding the slip....... and put on hear if i can find but it did perfrom better on 94 and got more miles out of a tank of gas

I've tried to run higher octane, and have noticed nothing in the way of performance, or gas mileage... just the smell of unburnt fuel being more predominant in my exhaust gases... pretty smell from race gas, that is all...

Nothing but 87 octane for me. My 929 is meant to run on the cheap stuff, so why would I give it anything else?

yeah my RR ran on 87, so to put 91 in my f2 would be a joke

so what symptons would determine whether or not this is necessary? reason i ask is that i have put lucas additive in my tank while i couldnt get it to fire....it sat for like 2-3 days, and once it fired up i had a bucket full of carbon shoot out my exhaust all over my garage, and continued to for the next 10 minutes.

the compression for an F2 is close to 10.6:1 so it IS high enough to justify using high octance gas. Honda, however does NOT recommend using additives such as octane boost or fuel system cleaner, etc...
