New Front Fairing In
Got my new maier race front fairing today, The quality is decent (especially for 120 bucks..on closeout!) The only thing I dont like are the giant turn signal bulges...I was going to chop them out and fiberglass over them...but they are very close to the edge and is too risky..so ill have to improvise. Let me know of any cool ideas!

RE: New Front Fairing In
I took some strong masking tape and placed it over the hole on the outside of the fairing. It's easy to get the contours correct that way. Then flip the panel over and apply the Fiberglass resin/hardener. Cut the fiberglass matting to the exact shape of your hole. Being careful, and using something thin and pointy (like a pencil) press the fiberglass matting into the hole on top of the sticky side of the tape, coat the matting in more resin. After that cures for a while and is stiff, place another larger piece of matting (on the inside again) over the first. After that completely cures you will be able to peel the tape off the outside of the fairing and have a flush patch. A little feather sanding, maybe a tiny amount of filler putty and a paint match and you're done. I built one for a guy and added red tinting to the fiberglass and resin. We mounted a signal inside the fairing and now the fiberglass patch simply lights up when the signal is on. Looks trick and is 100% legal in all the states. Oh yeah, no unsightly bulge.

ok....im having some trouble brining myself to chop up a brand new fairing......but when I look at anybody elses that have them shaved it looks 100 times better..so I have to do it.....but on this fairing there is only about a quater of an inch from the bulge to the edge..so I will have to be very very carefull...the way I learned to do fiberglass is to put a layer on the back...and then cut out peices and fill the hole...any other ideas that may work better?
