New f2! US bike but Cali wiring?
So two days ago I picked up a 1992 f2. The kid said it was a 92 frame but a 98 motor. I don't think the engine is a 98 but the frame is a 92. Anyway it was all torn apart and the cylinder walls are rusty but nonetheless I have a bike to work on and plan on getting it up in running in the next week. I was scared about the wiring when I first saw it because it was just thrown together. After looking at it and labeling I found out the wiring is a California harness. So is the carb due to sensor on it. I was just wondering if this harness would give me any problems with it running?
thanks for the info thats good to hear. now im on to the next problem though. No cranking over. I put an old battery on with a charger on and ran some tests. headlight, turn sigs, etc. all work. I do not have gauges so I am limited on my info. I dont think that the side stand switch is working right. I'm not sure if its plugged in right either. when I hit the button nothing happens but when I turn the kill switch off the fuel pump starts running. Is this normal? Also when I keep the fuel pump going and I push the kick stand up the fuel pump shuts off. That doesnt make sense to me at all. I did jump the starter solenoid and the starter turns over so I know the starter is good. Something in the wiring deffiently. What do you guys think?
sorry, most of us f2 guys are fools when it comes to some of the f3 stuff, I have no clue when the fuel pump is supposed to turn on or not. the f2 never came with a fuel pump. Try reading up on the f3 section or make a thread
it doesn't help that you have cali wiring, and that it seems like from your description since it was thrown together it doesn't help either. if you don't have a book yet on the bike i would get one asap, it will give you charts on the wiring, specially since your bike is cali.
