That is the reason I stopped messing with it. I knew if I did, I was bound do damage something. When you say take off the head, do you mean the cylinder head? I thought I'd have to pull the whole engine or something to get it to a shop.

EDIT: I just looked up cylinder head removal in the manual. I'd be WAY in over my head. I feel as if I am already...

If it's fairly accessible as it sits in the bike, a shop may be able to help you out without removing the engine or head.

Thank you for the input. I will try and get it to a shop VERY soon. A little off topic, I'm installing a fuel filter. This is what it looks like:Name: 20130125_154433_zps282d2b8d.jpg

Would I just cut the hose at the halfway mark and slip on filter ends? Fitment issues?

Cut the hose only if need be. Just find a place inline to put it an route the hoses so the don't kink. If you're not using clamps, and you shouldn't have to, use a zip tie around the connections as extra security.

Is there another place I could put it other than the hose that goes from petcock to the carbs?

EDIT: I guess I could put it right after the hose pictured goes into the carb hose. As in, right between this hose and the carb hose. The one that comes from carbs and becomes just one hose.

OK I apologize in advance for the below if it is from a brain fart due to you panicking about the bolt. Otherwise step away from the tools, and i have no idea how you got the valve cover off.

Have you ever drilled metal before? Do you know what a center punch is? Dont get shavings on your engine, you should know a couple of tricks to do this.

Flat is the flat rectangular one, second one down.

2 Makes 1 acceptable if it was a brain fart due to it being recessed...
