Hi Phil. Im still on my same mission to find my upper left cowl. At CMS, I found a CBR600F 64240MV9640ZD type 9 cowl but it is the fighting red. You sent me a document that showed the decals with the color numbers to me when I was looking for my decals. I found those and ordered them. So I have those now. I cannot find my color of my F2 in the cowl. The color schemes are the ZA-ZD on the stripe list, and then there is the type 9 and type 8s. Unsure what those numbers are. And I know my bike is not a hurricane but will this CBR 600F cowl fit on my f2? . If so, I could order it, have it sanded down and painted my colors. Quite spendy to go that route, but....? Suggestions?
UK & places outside the US used a slightly different naming convention for F2. Often with a letter instead of a '2'. 64240MV9640ZD is for a 92 F2 upper left cowl from the Netherlands. It would fit, but it's the wrong color and shipping to the US would be expensive.
If you want a brand new cowl, your next best bet would be to try and find a real blue upper for a 91 F2. But this is a long shot.
COWL SET, L. (UPPER) *PB231* (TYPE5) (WL) (REAL BLUE) 64240-MV9-670ZD superseded by 64240-MV9-670ZJ
If you can't find one of those, you can still buy fighting red left uppers in the US from ron ayers. ~$460 and then you have to paint it.
My advice, even if you get an upper and paint it, you still won't be able to match the stickers. So it's not worth spending the money on a brand new upper.
I'd find a good one on ebay and then paint it. You can then have a graphic company make some stripes/decals, do a matching set of left & right.
They won't be exactly the same as OEM, but they'd be close enough no-one would know the difference.
Or try Tapeworks Graphics : Decals for Cars, Bikes, and Motorcycles, they used to have some cool F2 premade graphics kit, they also have some generic kits that might work.
I've got a couple thoughts.
1. start a new post for your problem, instead of add on to someone elses.
2. if you're trying to remove screws, I'd suggest you first try a screw driver. They are made for doing that sort of thing.
And much less destructive that the next 5 methods I could suggest.
3. I really have no idea what you are working on. A picture is worth a 1000 words.
HI phil, I am super happy to report I have my f2 back to original. Found the front fearings, decals, guages, ect...
Now I am going to go on a long ride in May of 22. I am going to ride to Kentucky to graduate from my Masters program. The question I have for you know is how and where and what type of saddle bags do you recommend for my f2? thank you kindly.
There are no specific F2 saddle bags.
But there are many universal ones that will work.
Just depends on how big you want them and how often you use them and how much you want to spend.
Long time ago, I bought some RKA 47 liter bags. They are big and well made, but also expensive.
They are great and for me, they were worth it. The square shape makes them easy to pack.
I've taken many 2+ week camping trips with mine. They will hold all my clothes and some tools.
I also have a 60 liter dry bag for the tent/sleeping bag/sleeping pad + tankbag for electronics/wallet/etc.
It also helps to pack everything in ziplock/trash bags inside the luggage, since no luggage is ever fully waterproof.
