Default Looking at an f2

Hey guys, sold my 02 f4i a while back, and now im looking for another, cheaper bike. This one caught my eye as a winter project candidate

1994 honda cbr f2 (600)

I dont think its worth $800 though, thought more like $600. The higher miles kinda worry me too. Anything I should be looking for in particular on f2s? kinda like how the cctl's went bad on f4is

Any info is appreciated, thanks guys

Hi man, F2's are great bikes ! They have a problem with the cam chain tensioner, it's hidraulic and it gets toast fast but you can fit an f3 tensioner or buy one from ebay ! My f2 has this problem and its from 1991 ! Engine is very strong and it has a very long life ! I've seen f2's with 130.000 km so ! Sorry for my bad english !

28,000 isn't high mileage for an F2, but then again, 10,000 miles is scary, if the bike hasn't been well cared for, and properly maintained.

Buying a used bike is somewhat of a crap shoot - if things look rough, dirty, etc., you can only assume that the mechanicals have been neglected as well... I've seen worse, for $800, but I've seen better, too.
And, plastics are expensive, OEM body parts can be kind of pricey, even on eBay, and then you've got to finish and paint them if you want the bike to have matching panels, or, spend $500 on a Hong Kong kit.

something that has caught my eye - along with the damaged/missing fairings - is that the upper fairings on the bike have been modified to have the stock turn signal, and the whole area they mount to, removed and filled/flattened to mount the flush mounts you see.

See the difference:

Also - chain has a ton of slack, and looks like it hasn't been lubed in forever.

hard to tell, but front tire looks pretty worn.

May just be me - but that kickstand looks a little bent as well.

depending on how much you want to get into it, I'd offer in the $500-600 range and negotiate.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I texted the person selling the bike, and they're responding like a complete moron. I sent a text asking a few questions about the bike, to which they responded "Yes", then I asked if I could look at it tomorrow night, to which they responded "Fine", then I asked what their address was and they havent responded........ typical craigslist shenanigans. I don't understand why people post things for sale and then dont respond.
