The air filter, slip-on pipe, and jet kits usually fill in a lean spot that was built in to pass EPA smog rules. Look at dyno charts and the rising hp line has a dip between 5000-7000. This is right before the valves, cam, and carbs really start to work on the F2. Adding only a pipe increases the dip. The jet kits use a differently tapered needle to add fuel to the mid range. Even though the jets are usually smaller than the stock jets, the thinner needle lets more fuel through. A full race exhaust system will add top end hp, but will give up some of the mid range we like for street riding.

I'm sure with proper tuning and chassis setup you can get a fairly stock F2 into the 10.9 range. But, remember, Jay (PeeWee) Gleason was a pro racer and none of the other magazine editors or riders could touch his times on the bike.

Time the lights, slip the clutch, feather traction, shift weight, raise feet to pegs, oh nuts, gotta grab another gear, no wheelie, no wheelie. Not as easy as it looks.

Check out this place. http://www.kwsmotorsports.com/h600.htm They do nitrous too.

They're tuning the 600RR, but maybe the pistons, porting, and machine work could be used in an F2. Around $3000. Then maybe some Carillo rods $650. Then, lower the bike a couple of inches, extend the swing arm and then you could hit 10.9 or so.

I looked around the web. No one really wants to turbo or nitrous a 600. All the bikes I saw were 900 or bigger. The cases and bottom ends on bigger motors are made to handle over 150 hp stock so they can be stressed more than a 600. Our flywheels are very light for quick revs. You need some flywheel mass to prevent bogging off the line.

It could also be that there isn't a class in drag racing for 600s. Maybe bike classes are just unlimited run what you brung kind of world. Of course that brings up David vs. Goliath issues. Would be fun to beat a bigger bike in a drag.

can someone help me here? didnt he ask what MODIFICATIONS you would need for a STOCK f2 to break the 10's. kind of a contradiction. i could throw a jet engine in a F2 frame and break the 6's, but it would no longer be stock. once you change the can or filter or jetting........ etc it no longer remains stock. so whats the point of this thread? you want a stock bike thatll break the 10's, get a blackbird or a -14. once you introduce an AFTERMARKET part to your bike ITS NOT STOCK!!!

You are right. I interpreted it as what to do to a stock bike to make it do something it aint gonna do stock.

I think what superlund was going for is the best bang for his buck. What could he ddo to get his bike going faster for cheap.

only problem is getting to extreme high speeds isnt cheap. haha

I would get a jet kit do your full ehaust(if your looking for drag not street or track racing) air filter, lower the bike, and extended swing arm. those are your quickest options and easiest to do for sure.

You could also get a dyna rpm limiter try and tweak with that. I have one on my f2 now but it isnt hooked up.

a swing arm extension is def gonna cost you also, good 700 bucks prollay and thats with really looking or buying used.

or you could just take that motor out of your 954,slam it in the f2 and tell everyone your running a 600.
