that it does, to insure my f2 for me under my dads insurance policy cost me about 2000 grand a year, that's at thousand dollar deductibles.

I would change it up but my dad says if I want to then I get my own policy, and any money I would save by changing it would just end up costing me to be on my own policy. so I just got to stick it out.

I just dropped the comprehensive on the CBR. I figure the insurance co would never give me what it is really worth and the $500 deductible comes out on top of that. It just doesn't seem worth it. Nobody is going to steal it and it is garage kept and locked up. Maybe if I rebuild it over this coming winter and get it cleaned up with new plastic... but not as it is today.

If they were going to steal something it would be my wife's bike (2006 Boulevard S40). Comprehensive on that was like 10x less than the CBR. >_<

I ride a 929rr, my wife rides and SV650S, We carry full insurance on both bikes, with 500$ deductibles. Last fall, she had minor fall down on the bike, didn't do alot to her SV, mostly superficial cosmetic damage..that cost 3000 bucks according to the insurance company..we turned it in, got our check (bike was not totalled, as its an 08'.) That check put a Yoshi exhaust, new front fairings, new tires, and we still pocketed near 1400 bucks. Insurance can be worth it. To be fair, here is where I tell you, I'm 46 years old, haven't had an accident or a ticket in more than 15 years. Full coverage insurance runs 950.00 a year for BOTH bikes combined. Its one of the few things that getting older does, thats actually good. I'm not worried about my driving..its those idiot cagers out there that can mess you up quick with a flick of their wheel. So far, carrying full coverage has been worth it for us.

$950 + $500 = $1450

$3000 - $1450 = $1550.

Basically by dropping the bike you almost paid for 2 years of insurance. I suppose that isn't a bad deal.

Lets take that example and compare with mine. ~$325/yr for two bikes, with comprehensive only on the wife's bike. I am 25 with no tickets and she is 23 with no tickets.

I've only ever had liability on any of my bikes, but I've always bought them outright with cash. I have my F2 insured through Progressive and it costs me about $90.00 a year.

I pay $350 a month for Oregon required minimum liability insurance. Not too bad.

Also, for the cost of one years worth of anti-theft insurance, you can get an anti-theft GPS tracking service. One of which will actually work.

$350/mo for liability only? $4200 a year for min. coverage on a F2 that is only worth about $2800 at high retail value?
