Default headlights...

alright guys, i just purchased a front race fairing, and i still want to ride it on the street. so i was gonna cut out an openin and throw the stock headlight in and fab somethin to mount it up there, but then i got to thinking...why dont i just put some other light in there to kinda make the front look a little newer or just different anyway!! and i was thinkin light little fog lights or another headlight off of another bike! so i was wonderin, has anyone ever done this, and if so what lights did they use??

Yeah, it's been done. There's one guy on here that is running a Ducatti style on his race plastic. He cut out 2 round holes, one above the other, and mounted some little round fog lights. You've just gotta remember, the front of our bike, without the stock headlight, well, it's rather like a very large forehead. It needs something covering it. But, that's just my opinion.

Anything is possible with a little brains and fabrication. Let us know how it goes.

When i bought my F2, it had a cheesy custom headlight setup, which is basically made up of a race fairing with two 3" holes cut in it with two cheesy blue driving lights mounted in the holes. This can be done with good success IF good lights with good beam patterns are used. A lot of bikes use two lights...one for low beam and one for high beam. The low beams have a wide pattern with a very sharp cutoff, where as the high beam is more akin to a driving light, with a narrower beam pattern that is concentrated farther down the road.

Here is a pic of my bike in which you can kinda see the headlights:

Please excuse the mess in my garage.

FWIW, I've been given a front fairing from an F4, so I'm in the process of aquiring the rest of the F4 plastics in an effort to update the look of my bike (although I'm kinda liking the older look of my bike since it is different than all of the new bikes out there).

Also, this is m first post on this forum........so HELLO!!!

Nice bike, and welcome to the forum, looks like you have anice littletire collection going on there. It always good to have a bike that stands out, maybe you can combine them, use some new some old so yours is totally unique. Good luck, hope to see the progress.

thanks for the welcome!
Yeah, i have a tire fetish. thats only a small portion of the tires i have. I've been racing cars for 13 years, and have 7 sets of tires for my miata alone (and i've only owned the miata for a year). Then there are the 5 sets of MR2 wheels, etc.

Anyways, as for the fairings for the F2,i would ideally like to just use the F4 upper fairing and keep the side/rear F2 fairings, but that wold require much work sinc ethe F4 upper does not match the F2 sides at all.

A 600rr headlight will not work. The headlight contour is not close enough to the F3 fairing contour.
The SV650-S headlight might work.
