GAS GUAGE??
No, just open the cap and look in. Know how far you can get on a tank and you start to learn pretty quick. Also, when the bike is warmed right up, I can feel where my gas level is on the bike from the outside by feeling the warm gas on my theighs.
Reset your trip meter when you fill up. Note how many miles you show when you hit reserve. Do it a few times under different conditions and you'll have a good idea of how far your bike can travel each time you fill up.
I got stuck down a block from my house the second day I got my f2 because of that problem and I also thought about puting in a gas gauge but felt like I can use that money for something else. I was used to my 86 vfr with a gas light to let me know that I'm on reserve. But found out the hard way!! haha, now I gotta do it manually!! I usually reach 160 till I fill up.
http://www.veypor.com/index.html it was like 270 something, the online store wouldn't work but a quick froogle showed about 277
