Front Sprocket Positioning

Anyone know which way the front sprocket goes on the shaft? There's a lip on each side of the sprocket that's a different depth. Depending on how you flip it, the chain will be closer to the engine casing, or further away. Anybody???? Thanks

Is it a 520 or 530 sprocket?

My guess would be further away but im not 100 percent sure.

It's a 520 sprocket and chain....Sorry I forgot to mention that.

The front sprocket should run closer to the engine case. Think about it this way. 520 sprockets and chains are thinner than the 530 stuff. So when you bolt on a 520 rear sprocket, the center line of the sprocket moves closer to the center line of the bike. If you want your chain to run straight, the front sprocket should then also bolt closer to the center line of the bike which would be closer to engine case.
