Default Flipping Race Tires Backwards

Anyone flip race tires around backwards to get more use out of them? The left side is shot but they still got some life on the right side. I understand that rain might be a problem with treaded tires but lets say its not gonna rain? I'm not gonna flip my worn out tires but if I coulda flipped them sooner they woulda wore better and lasted longer. 5 and a half days the Power One B compound. Shoulda change to new tires after 4 days. Thanks.

hey i know this thread is old but i just seen it.

Heres the issue, you can only flip race tires on specific models/brands, for instance, The dollop Ntec have been flipped by some riders, also michelin slicks, but i run power ones as well, and i can only get 4 days at advanced pace and 6 at intermediate. If you trust the tire, go for it, i just had a td where i had about 4 inches of wear bar gone on my power one on the right side, they are "supposed" to run like slicks, but thats a load of bull****, it gets slicker than a freshly shaved vag. on blacktop, and i had very little left hand wear, i went ahead and put on a new rear, and put any doubt to rest. Then went and sold that tire for 25$. Someone may be less weary than I but id rather throw on a new rear for 230$ than fix a 800$ crash. Economics i suppose. Hope this helps

I thought only slicks could be flipped.

We used to flip, I think the Dunlop front 364 in the 90's. Also I read the BS about worn Power One dot's acting like slicks. I never tried slicks, I hope they dont act like worn Power One dot's. 3rd and 4th day Power One dot's B compound stuck fantastic. 5th still pretty good grip but, little slip here and there. 6th day grip was gone. Sliding both front and rear at a moderate advanced pace with Roger Lyle's Motorcycle Xcitement at Summit Point's Shenandoah circuit. Temps were pushing 90 degrees. I also run the recomemded cold psi and tire warmers. I asked some of the guys at the track day what kind of life the get out of them. They race and have the bigger rear on the newer bikes and they said they get a race weekend or less from them. Dam! The faster you go the more it cost, thats for dam sure.
