RE: fairing under gauges?
I am a little confused by what you are refering too. But here is a page from my manual, do you see anything your bike is missing? I think you are talking about the part I high lighted in color, but I am not sure. Look and if you need more pictures let me know.
The piece I high lighted goes under the front cowling, you remove it to replace the head light bulb. It keeps water and debris from entering under the gauges I think. I took mine out because it vibrated and then drilled two holes in it to zip tie it to the cowling frame work. Now no more vibration noises !

Well that piece is actually called the Headlight Lower Cover. Unless you ride in the rain, it is not a piece you really need. I take mine out all the time and leave it out for months at a time. They break easy, so maybe the previous owner of your bike broke off one of the claws while replacing the headlight and just left it off. Don't sweat it, you'll be ok with out it. Others will say search ebay and all that........... I say why bother.

You should get yourself a Manual for your bike. I have a pdf manual I could burn to a disc for you, if you need a copy send me a PM. A manual is good insurance. I downloaded mine then burned it to a disc. I got mine FREE online at these locations:
http://hondatech.info/search/Honda/CBR/600/
then in the upper left hand corner there is a search bar, type in Honda CBR 600 and it will take you to a page where you select the
Honda_CBR_600_F2_91-94_Service_Manual.zip
It is a 53 MB file, if you have DSL or similar no problem for you to download. It is something like 196 pages if you print it out.
