F4i clocks on an F2
Hello you all, I have been reading this forum for quite some time now but only once replied to a post and never started a new one but I thought this might interest some of you. I own a 91 F2, bought it new from the dealer in January 92, and I have been doing some modifications on it. I recently installed F4i gauges and had every thing working nicely except the speedo, as you all know the F2’s speedo is cable driven, so I have been looking in to various ways of getting it working. During my one of many ebay browsing adventures I came across a front sprocket cover from a 97 900RR witch as some of you may remember had the speedo driven from the bolt that holds the sprocket so before I knew I had purchased the thing and to day I received it, and what do you know it fits like a glove, no modification needed, bolted directly on to the motor. I am quite sure the reading is way off but a speedo healer will hopefully fix that problem.

RE: F4i clocks on an F2
Well I guess it’s best to tell you the whole story,
This all started because I wanted to install the F3 carbs and ram air system and in order to get the throttle position sensor working I installed the F3 wiring harness and CDI unit. Now as I sometimes do I was hunting around on ebay and came across some F4i clocks, and thought they looked really nice so I placed a bid and won them. Installing the clocks was relatively easy, I had a drawing of the F2, F3 and the F4 wiring so it was just a matter of connecting everything together according to them.
The only issue was that I was joining USA electrical system to a European system, they do not operate the headlights in the same way, but it was just a matter of moving some wires around and it was all singing all dancing.
Now since the F3 has the speedo sensor on the motor then I did not need to install any additional wires and the 900RR speedo sensor plug is the same as the F3 one so it’s basically a plug and play kind of thing.
I can also tell you guys that in order to get the ram air system in I decided to install the F3 radiator. I have also installed The F4i rear shock and the F4i front brakes and wow does this make a difference or what.
I have uploaded some photos to www.flickr.com/photos/vallip
I am also thinking about moving the battery under the swing arm and then fabricating a new fuel tank where the battery normally is. As you all know when the bike is low on fuel then it is the most fun to ride, so lowering the center of gravity and distributing the weight of the bike more evenly between the front and rear wheels hopefully will result in a better handling bike.
