Just like elmer said there is a how to on this site just search carbs and it will come up. Its great with pictures and so on. I looked at that and was able to do the carb clean very easily.

Makes sense Elmer. I'll have to see if my buddy Dave can help me out. I'll shoot him an email now.

I may be missing something, but MT, it would be faster and easier for you to do the carb swap yourself than it would for you to take the bike to the dealership and back. There's a really excellent howto on cleaning carbs. If you follow that there really isn't anything that can go wrong. The 75 bucks for the inspection is fair I think but completely unnecessary. Have you're more mechanical buddies give it the once over. Actually, in reality based on the number of pictures in your past thread about that bike, people on here would probably catch anything upon visual inspection. Save your money, do things yourself.

BDizzle- that ebay item looked so sweet I had to order one for myself. When I get it I'll post up pictures so everyone can see how it turned out. Hopefully someone will be able to answer hersheys questions before then though, because I'm curious as well.

notny41 - how are those covers installed? do they just slip over the seat, or do you glue/staple them in place?

They arent loose, dont wrinkle?
I'm not going to say it was a piece of cake, but I did get it on and looking good. Nope - no wrinkles. The f2 seat will be way easier because it doesn't curve up in the front (where your ***** are) like the ninja seat did. You just throw the new cover in the dryer for a little while to warm it up. And then you get your staple gun out, and start stapling and stretching. It might take a time or two to get it perfectly centered, but you'll like it alot!

Sorry to hijack here...

EmptyWallet, do the carbs yourself. You'll gain confidence in knowing you did it on your own (or with the help of your buddy).

Changing the carbs out yourself should cost you about...oh, I'd say probably $0.00

And that is my option I think I'll go with Not NY.

The easy and cheap way! Just gotta ask my buddy Dave if he's up to the challenge.

Thanks again

Just wanted to give everyone an update

My wife and I just moved into our new apartment, and we're really busy unpacking and tossing out a ton of cardboard moving boxes.

Right now I pledged to myself that I would work a lot of extra jobs and save money for our future.

Until I reach my own set goal of $$ saved, I won't be touching my bike or even looking at it.

No time to work on it, or to have a friend help me as I'll try to work extra jobs every chance I get.

Is there anything I should do to the bike to make sure it's ok? I took out the battery and charge it every now and then. I check it with a voltmeter.

What about the rest of the fluids in the bike? I don't care if the tires get flat, they are toast anyway.

Thanks!

change oil and coolant (cheap and quick) if there's fuel in the tank top it up and add fuel stabilizer to keep the tank from rusting and the fuel from going bad, if the battery is good put it on a trickle charger.

anybody else know something I'm forgetting?

If you have stands for front and rear put it on the stands. Oh, turn off the gas.
