Default F2 Tyre Replacement

I'm looking to replace both tyres on my 93 PC25 after I've had the wheels blasted and re powder coated, the rear is supposed to be a 160 / 60 / ZR17 as standard, but I'm wondering if I can fit a 170 / 60 / ZR17 without it fowling the hugger or swing arm. I know it's only 10mm's wider but sometimes just that bit more can make all the difference, your thoughts?

Yes you can, that's what's on mine (BT23?) but I think it's incompatable with the standard fitting on the front (BT46?) which was retained for the speedo.

Sorry for not being more specific but dien at the pub quiz :-)

Thanks Ed much appreciated I've since found a couple of 160 / 60 / 17s with real good tread part worn but with loads of life left in them, the cost of brand new rubber is getting up there so am trying to keep the expense down with everything I need to replace on this. I'm kinda looking at putting on either Metzeler's Pirelli's or Michelin's so I'll look around and see if I can find a match for the front to whatever it is I decide on.

Well, I live in Cornwall so country roads coastal roads country lanes mostly so it's not like I'm going to be ripping the back out of it most of the time but I do like the odd thrash now and then.

Maybe look into dual-compound tyres. I got 16k-miles from set of BT45s. That’s with about 10 trackdays thrown in too. Great grip when leaned over.

Hi Danno, I found a brand new 160 / 60 ZR 17 Pirelli Diablo Rosso for £30 plus a tenner on post so not too shabby considering how much they are new, I just need to find a matching 120 / 60 / zr 17 Pirelli for the front now
