Hola good people!

The thermostat is bad in the 93' F2, online price is about $40 for a new one. Seems a bit steep to me. Anyone getting away without running their thermostat in the bike, or have a less expensive alternative?

I just bought one from the Honda dealer, it was around $50. Do not run your bike without a thermostat. Your engine will never reach operating temperature, and it can cause serious wear issues in the engine. Most engines need to run at about 180-195 degrees F to allow for proper wear/maximum bearing life.

 

how do u know ur thermo is bad?

 

Take the radiator cap off, start the bike. Let the bike reach operating temp, and keep watching the coolant in the radiator. If the coolant suddenly starts swirling, your thermostat is open/opening and coolant is circulating. If not, you have a stuck thermostat. Or, easy way, remove the thermostat, boil water in a pot, get it really damn hot, drop the thermostat in, watch and see if it opens.
