Default F2 speedometer help

hello, ive got a 92 cbr f2, and i was wondering if someone could help me out. I was riding one day and the speedometer stoppped working, along with the odometer. Im sure its not the cable, because i just replaced it about a month ago. I also had a freind roll the bike forward while i held the disconnected end of the speedometer cable, and the inside end of the cable did not turn. anybody have any idea what is causing this? it must be something at the front wheel hub, right? Thanks for any help!!

it really just works by the cable and gears in the speedo and in the hub on the front wheel.

take the cable off from behind the speedo and leave it on at the wheel.. roll the front wheel, does the cable spin? if it does plug it back into the speedo.. does it work? if not, you might have a gear broken in the speedo.

If it does not spin when it is in the wheel you may have to take the wheel off and make sure the gears in that little housing our good.. lube it with some grease as well.

thanks for the reply; i did try taking the cable off from behind the speedo and left it on at the wheel, and the cable did not spin. So i guess my next action is to figure out how much this is gonna cost to replace the gear in the front wheel. anybody know how much this could potentially cost me?

I would try to replace the cable first. It is possible that it broke somewhere under the plastic coating and is causing it to not spin. I happen to have an extra cable if you want it just call me if you are interested. 865-755-9505

The speedo gear is about $20 from RonAyers.com - the part number is 44806-MV9-003 Their number is 800-888-3084

But before you buy it try one more thing... move the actual inner cable from the top (removed from speedo) and make sure that inner cable is sitting down correctly inside the gear, it needs to be seated in a small slot inside there. After trying and it doesn't work I would order the new gear. Make sure you lube the new gear before installing it.
