Default f2 to f3 motor swap question

I bought an F2 as a project and it looks like it may be cheeper to swap in another motor. It looks like an F3 will mount in no problem as well. Can anyone confirm this?Anything else i should watch out for?

the f3 should bolt directly...you may need the ecu from the f3, but im not sure...i beleive the f4 or f4i bolts on directly as well...i wouldnt imagine you could use the f2 ecu with the f4 or f4i motor so youd need the f4 or f4i ecu im sure...but while your at it if i were you id swap a 900rr motor in....all you need is the ecu and the motor and then to build some lower motor mount brackets...the left inner side of the frame where the carbs are has to be dented in just slightly...but it wouldnt but hardly anymore work that swapping any motor in..so id go for it...im planning on doing one this upcoming summer...the weight difference is only 1 pound. On top of that there really is no price difference between them...i guess the only upside is if you went with a newer f4i motor youd have fuel injection.

It'll go right in.

You don't need an F3 harness or F3 CDI.

You won't need the TPS.

You may need to get F3 intake boots for the carbs, but don't quote me on that one.

Best of luck

They are the same in some ways, but quite different in others.

The racebike in my sig line has an F3 motor, but an F2 harness and F2 HRC CDI.

Open to anything really, just would like to source a motor close as shipping is pricey and am not willing to put big bucks into it right now.I have 2 motors now,one broke a rod through the caseand the one that was in the bike took out#2 piston, looks like detonation, owner thought it was a head gsk.So staying with a 600 gives me lots of spares. Its a second bike for me so i'm not in a big rush

I say keep the 6 hun but put an F3 engine in it. If an F4 will fit and doesn't require dicking around, go with that if you can find one. (Claimed 110hp over the F3's 105 at the crank)

F4i and fuel injection will require way too much work than you'd want to put up with.

Just my $0.02
