Tank bag Rocks. I always bring my tank bag when going on a track day. Put lots of tools and some spair parts. Spair gloves, clear visor, rain gear & so on. Very very handy.

I commute on my bike daily (unless it rains, which is rare in sunny san diego). Since you mentioned 'laptop', I suggest you pick up a good laptop bag. I got one from Best Buy a while ago. Its by Targus, and will fit my 17" Powerbook just fine. Not only is it great for when I take the bike, but its also great for traveling. If I have to make a quick overnight visit somewhere, I can actually fit a change of clothes in this bag WITH the laptop (has a padded compartment just for the laptop).

Rev Pack use to make soft luggage design for sportbikes. My husband has set for the F2. They strapped under the seat. I can dig them out, take pitcure and possibly find a picture of what they looked like on the bike. Tho, the latter maybe more difficult then unpacking the RevPacks. We are are no longer using them. The F2 is no longer street legal.

I commute on other machines with hard luggage. I'm creature of comfort and convenience.

"I use the backpack as little as possible to maximize airflow"
I use a bungee net to bungee my backpack to the seat. I have about a 48 mile commute (one way). I think I would prefer a hard tail bag or saddle bag would be nice if I didn't have to carry everything and if it was waterproof (backpack isn't). It would also server for storage of a rainsuit too.

18.5 miles each way, about 6 days a week, rain or shine

i carry a cargo net under the seat, it gets used alot.. especially if the wife asks me to stop at the grocery store on the way home, and it can also carry beer easily

i also ride with a backpack. and if i wear my jacket, i utalize the pockets, i dont like tankbags, and really dont like a backpack, so thats why i use the net more

Just looking around on ebay and found these. I have seen the tank bag/backpack and it is sweet. I was thinking that the tail bag would be sweet for work, if you dont have much to carry. Plus, it is glossy and streamlined.

The same seller has some sweet *** hard shell back packs too.

This JC Whitney bootleg Givi E-360 copy works good on a Ventura Rack.

I commute everyday on the bike, rain or shine (NW yay!). Its usually about 15 miles round trip, but sometimes I'll do 80. I use my snowboarding back pack strapped to the tail with the bungee net deal. Works great. Lap tops, tools, clothes, what ever. Its water proof (for the snow) and I haven't had a need for a tank bag yet. It aint pretty though - neither is my bike.

I had a nearly compound fracture of my collar bone last year, and even though its healed, backpacks suck, even before that I don't think they're good for long rides, I use a messenger type bag, I have it adjusted so that the bulk of the weight is resting on the seat behind me, should easily hold a labtop, papers, lunch etc. I have been known to carry my full 1 piece race suit and boots in it so I can go right from work to the twisties, its just a little awkward saying goodbye to the boss while in the full suit
