Default Exhaust note.

Why does the exhaust of a newer bike sound so much better than ours? Anyway I can give mine that same note?

Ahh! Exhaust sounds. It is what it is all about. From Nascar to F1, to Drags to Air races, the sound of exhaust is what brings the whole package home. But, what about horse races?

Anyway, newer bikes sound sharper because the engines are better, the fueling systems are more efficient, and the pipes flow more. Many parts of the engine make the "sound". Even slip-ons change the exhaust note. The baffle arrangement, insulation, material of the can all change the effect.

The old bike drag team of Vance and Hines used to put weight in the carb slides to make the motor drop revs as fast as it made them. It was only for the pits as it made no difference WFO on the strip. It made the fans happy.

Enjoy the sound of your motor. It says who you are.
