Exclamation Evaporative Emission Canister cbr600f2 (ca model) Very Interesting.

Ok so i have a 91 cbr 600f2. I've been riding it for about a month now. My Bike got rained on "accident" (didn't cover it...) The next day i went out to fire her up to go to work and i noticed a hesitation when i tried to apply the throttle. It would kinda bog down and almost die, but then return to idle. I figured i might be low on fuel and opened the tank lid to find a small amount of WATER!! I of course was trippin at this point. I decided to disconnect the hoses coming from the vent/overflow at the top of the tank. disconnected all hoses to the evaporative canister and remove the canister from the bike. Upon removing it i noticed it was rather heavy. Too Heavy. so i covered all three holes and blew air into the 4th and no matter which hole i chose to blow the air through it was drizzling water and misting out of it. A lot. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not. Probably not... But figured others would find this useful in some way.

Some people that read threads dont reply because they cant offer a solution or anything to it. Do you want 45 "i dont knows"? There are usually more unregistered guest users lurking than members at any given time that cant post viewing as well. Have you ever looked at the "whos online" in the tabs at the top? Dont take it personal.

As for your original post, there is not really a question in there to answer. you got a comment and its a good one. most people would just remove the can and vent to the air. Just plug the line that has vacuum, if there is one.

Default evaproative emmisions problem solved.

so i took an air gun and blew the rest of the water out of he evap canister and mounted the canister back on the bike. fired it up and it purred! it had so much water build up that it was basically i keeping the vacuum from being able to serve its purpose. the reason the water got into the tanks is i have a bad gas tank gasket at the top. tall is good. jus gotta replace it and or keep it out of the rain.
