Default Energy Usage

Hey guys my friends 92 F2 seems to be using battery power very quickly. Could it be that the shop did not charge it correctly? Or is there another explanation like a bad voltage regulator or something? And his bike did fall over while standing still, very little damage to the bike at all, but could the battery have gotten messed up that way?

Motorcycle batteries do go bad quickly, and shops / dealers are notorious for giving batteries 'quick' charges which shortens the battery life. If it were the R/R the bike would probably not stay running when the battery were low or dead...if the R/R were totally shot the biike would use battery power for the ignition system, headlight, etc. The bike would probably die after riding for twenty minutes or so. I would start with the battery if you are not having these drastic symptoms. See if it will take a good charge from a trickle charger. If not, try a new battery.

If you have, or have access to a 'good' test set, there are posts on this forum on how to check the electrical system from stator to R/R to battery.

Thanks for the advice... and on a side note, isnt it illegal to sell a battery without properly charging it?

It's definately a shady practice...and pretty common from what I hear, but if it is illegal I am not sure how it could be proven. I have actually read alot of posts on this forum about improper battery charging.
