electrical gremlin

So I thought all was well with the bike, took her out for a ride today and she just shut off.

No power at all. No lights, no gauges, nothing. Checked the main fuse, blown. Replaced it and she started up again.

One mile down the rode, died again. No lights, no power, nothing. Checked all fuses, none blown!

Any ideas?

The main connector after the positive is corroded?

Is your positive wire to your battery grounding out on the frame? If it doesnt have that little rubber boot on it there's a good chance if you leaned or hit a bump the terminal could ground out....

good luck...

just got the bike home today. will take a look at both. thanks! any more info will be greatly beneficial.

my bike done exactly the same thing. a new regulater/rectifier and new battery later and all was good again.

Ok, here's what i've come up with. Battery is fine. All connections going to and from the battery are fine and not touching the frame or anything.

How likely is it the starter relay is bad? Would that cause the bike to just shut off or does that only have to deal with actually starting the bike?

Also, another thing worth mentioning. The emergency Run/Off switch hasn't worked on the bike since I've gotten it. Could that be the problem?

I'm really baffled at what the problem could be. It's like someone took the key out or disconnected the battery; absolutely nothing comes on (except the temp gauge).

Starter relay is only engaged when using the starter, I would look into the kill switch but that may not solve the problem... The lights should still work with the key "on" and the killswitch "off".

Thanks Hershey, that's what I figured. So here I am at step one again. Where should I start? Perhaps the ignition switch, where I put the key in, is busted? Also, I'll take a look at the kill switch and report back. Thanks for the help guys.
