Dies while warming up
This has happened twice to me now. Both times it was first thing in the morning after the bike had been sitting all night after riding the day before. I had turned the gas off both nights and turned it on before I started it. It was around 5 degress C both mornings.
So I go to start it. Full choke, push the button, catches all is good. It is running at 2000rpm and when it increases to 4000rpm I ease the choke off untill it drops to 2000. It stays there for like 30seconds and then drops to like 1500. I thought I had taken the choke off too far so I put it on a bit more to get the rpm back up. It revs up and then drops in 10sec down to just turning over. I give it full choke again and it dies completely. I try to start it again and it just sputters and dies.
Maybe it flooded itself, or my choke manipulation flooded it. Either way I had to drive my truck into work this morning.
The way it sounded was that it wasn't getting any fuel. It was fresh 91octane fuel in the tank. Could it be the fuel filter? Both times it has happened on the bottom half of the tank.

Not sure about the not starting again problem, but when I try to put choke back on my bike after letting off it also sounds like it will die. What I always have to do is slowly put the choke back on butat the same time twist the throttle a tad to open the carbs so more air can get into the engine.
The engine is only supposed to idle at around 1200 rpm so when its down to 1500 you were golden I'm thinking. But yeah, it sounds like things got flooded, one way or another and thats why it wouldn't start again.
My bike is set to warm idle at 2000rpm. That is what it was set at when I picked it up and I haven't changed it.
Is there a fuel filter on it? I can't imagine a reason why there wouldn't be but since I haven't looked I wouldn't know for sure. If there is what would the part number be for it?

Surprisingly enough, there probably isn't a fuel filter on it unless somebody added one. These bikes did not come with a fuel filter. And mybad about the idle, Mike is right. I know my bike won't idle cold under 1500 rpm without dying.
Are you sure that isn't for maybe a CA bike? I can say that I have not seen an electricfuel pump on my bike and your link shows an electric fuel pump.In fact, I could have sworn that my fuel line goes from the petcock to the carb assembly.
I'm with MikeInCtown, I know my bike doesn't have an electric fuel pump or a fuel filter. The petcock goes to the carbs and is provided a vacuum by the leftmost carb. FNQuick, is your bike the same as whats in the linked diagram? Is that how some F2's are or like Mike suggested with California models? I've never known an F2 to have an electric fuel pump or filter.
