I only use my clutch in 1st gear, upshift clutchless, and rev match downshifting with the clutch. When I'm upshifting, driving normally, my bike sounds like an automatic. [8D]

I think, Why would they put it on there if you dont even have to use it? So for that its there for a reason so i use it all the time. And thats one thing you cant get lazy on your bike. Your just asking for trouble if you do.

The clutch is needed for stopping and starting, it's perfectly safe to shift without it.

I don't use the clutch to shift my CAR about half the time, I sure don't need it on my bike, [8D]

it is a much smoother when you don't use the clutch lever. but i don't know about it, seems like it should be there for a reason.

The main use for a clutch in a true sport bike being ridden like it was designed to be ridden is to modulate and smooth out hard engine braking on downshifts.

The reason WE need a clutch is to start and stop the bike, although it is very possible to get by without the clutch.

In modern sport bikes they are now using slipper clutches to control engine braking, which does your clutch modulation automatically.

Bottom line for everybody that will read this thread is that there is no harm in shifting with or without the clutch, it is a tool used mostly in high performance riding.
