actually i leanrned this little trick at a track day. in any gear rev all the way to redline put alittle pressure on the shift lever (up) then barely back out the throttle and hiit it wide open again.
notes for this to work u gotta be way up in the rpms also the throttle blip has to be lightning fast.

I've always done it under normal riding circumstances on every bike I ride. I just back off the throttle a little and shift like normal.

I think someone should point out, you can upshift and everything is well built enough to where you'll probably never have any serious transmission problems as a result, but I would definitely avoid attempting a downshift like that.

I'll point out that the type of transmissions used in motorcycles is completely different from a car transmission and clutchless shifting poses no threat of damage. In fact using the clutch causes more wear! (to the clutch plates)

I'm not going to pretend, I usually use my clutch unless I am REALLY trying to move.

I also clutchless downshift if I am being really lazy, just make sure you're in the proper RPM range for the gear you're moving down to, in racing conditions it is better to rev-match on downshifts though (with the clutch)

I use it all the time to shift up.... go for it. It makes it into a much smoother transition
