Default changin' oil

Can anyone tell me the exact amount of oil to pour in a 93 cbr 600? I drained my oil and am replacing the oil filter. I poured the "old" oil into quart size containers and it came out to be almost 3-3/4 quarts. The honda dealer only gave me 3 quarts and I heard that 2.8 was the number, but I don't have the owner's manual. I poured in 2.8 quarts and it was a tad low, so I filled the rest of my supply (3 quarts) and it looks pretty good, but I wanna make sure I'll have enough. It seems odd that that much oil came out. I didn't check the level on the dipstick before I drained the oil, so I don't know if 3-3/4 quarts is high/low or just right.

p.s. I need to get a owner's manual! I have a Service manual, but it does not list my question. If anyone has an extra!!...

Thanks for any help!

how about checking the dip stick? just make sure its in the cross hatch area..it should be about 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 . 2.8 sounds like the fill for a newer 600rr

The number that crosses my mind (from my Clymer's manual) is 3.9 quarts if you replace the oil filter as well.

I will have to double check as I don't have the book in front of me.

I only have the service manual in pdf format. Unfortunately I have never found a pdf version that includes section 1 - General Information.

I managed to over fill last oil change, apparently my stand rises the rear up to high.

everytime you change your oil you will need a different amount to ad. go by your dipstick.

buy 4 quarts.

THINK WITH YOUR DIPSTICK JIMMY!!!

That's weird...I checked my dipstick a day or two after I filled it with 3 quarts and it's still dead in the middle of the two lines of the dipstick. It seems strange that it says in the manuals almost 4 quarts! I'm checking the oil with the bike in the "straight" position, so the oil level should be most accurate their. Idk maybe I'll just run it like this for awhile and keep checking every so often.

Thanks

p.s. If anyone has a spare owner's manual I'd be happy to take it from ya!

Well if your bike was tilted off level you might not have drained all your old oil out.

I was told by the honda dealer 3.85

Also FWIW I was told to check the oil by just pushing the dipstick in, not to screw it in then unscrew it. I just changed my oil today and used the same method and it came out fine.
