Default CBR F3 Engine on an 93 F2

Ok guys I did all my thread searching and not all the questions I had were answered so I thought I would ask. I am looking at a 97 F3 engine at a good price and I was wondering all the interchangeability issues I would have. I know it will bolt on to the same frame, but will I need F3 carbs or possibly the electrical fuel pump that they run on? What kind of gains will I see?

i have a 97 motor on my f2 and the only changes are the motor its self. I am running f2 carbs on the bike and thats it. You will need the vacuum nipple for your petcock though. Pretty simple swap.

Where does the line connect on the F3 engine? Not on the left side of the first carb I'm guessing. And what kind of power gains are you seeing?

its in the same spot but on a f3 motor there is a screw in the vacuum port as thats where you would sync the carbs. just get a Motion Pro vacuum nipple and use that. The power gains are minimum as the difference in the two motors is minimal, It is a much newer motor which is a plus. Im sure using the f2 carbs looses somepower as the f3 carbs are bigger.

So how does that screw work to sync the carbs? And will it really be ok taking the screw out and replacing it with the new nipple?

the screw is there simply as a plug to seat the port when your not doing a sync. if you get a sync kit it will come with nipples to put in these holes but motion pro sells them individuals too for like 3 bucks. Thats what im using and have been for like 4 years now with nothing but the usual problems with f2s and 3s.

why cannot you use the f3 carbs? won't fit with the airbox or something?
