How would they not be good starter bikes? If your on a 600, and not a 1000, and have driven a manual car before so you know how a clutch works. And if you take it easy till you get the hang of it, you'll be fine. I started in a parking lot with my buddies '01 f4i, just practicing balance, not even on the throttle, just idling along. And about a week later picked up my F2.

I have owned maybe 10 manual cars and daily drive a manual m3 and my baby is 400hp manual cougar. I can use a clutch. I think Ill be fine but I'd feel better the first time on a smaller bike once i have rode the 250 a few times Ill ride mine. It also helps that my bike does not run at the moment and the 250 does.

Then you'll be fine. the problem is when people get on a bike for the first time and are like OHHH a bike! i bet this thing is fast! twist the throttle, drop the clutch, and we all have a funny youtube video to laugh our *** off to Like i said i started in a parking lot and didn't even touch the throttle, just let it idle along so i could get used to the feel.( don't have to give it any gas, just let the clutch out slowly like a car and it will start rolling) people just get A.D.D. and want to go fast becuase they are sitting on a bike. so i could get used to the feel.

Yeah this is pretty much how I want to do my bike, 91 F2..I'm thinking colors like the ducati fighter, gunmetal frame and wheels, then satin black everything else. Thing is...I have to take the thing apart first! I have my Clymers manual, but it doesn't really talk about taking the bike down to the frame. If you have any info or tips on this I would appreciate it...going to try getting it started tonight if the tank filter comes in. If that's a go then it's time to get busy. I imagine painting the motor get be kind of tricky? Wiring..that oughtta be interesting.

Here are some pics of it currently...w/ Disco white frame and wheels!

def leave that frame alone! looks good. leave wheels too. paint the engine, headers, exhaust, and tank black. Any decals you do, do white. will look good.

whatever you paint make sure you prep it really good so it dont fall off after a little bit and look like sh*t. as for taking it apart i reccomend getting some flat tackle boxes with removable dividers and mark what bolts came from where it will make reassembly 100% easier

Thanks, that's a good idea. MBU, I just can't handle the white frame and wheels, they are going to be sandblasted and repainted...BTW is that a cover on your swingarm or a completely different part?
